What do you do when faced with the King?

Precisely, that's my question. What do you do when faced with the King? king is a male sovereign or monarch; a man who holds by life tenure, and usually by hereditary right, the chief authority over a country and people. I'm sure many of us would, and highly likely would be in awe of respect should the king of the country be in our midst. Wouldn't we?

Just a reminder to us, Christians. We go to church every Sunday presented with the opportunity to praise and worship the King of Kings, Lord of Lords...and sadly because it is presented so easily to us, at times we take it for granted. It was pretty much a blind spot to me until prayer meeting about few hours ago that made me realized:

1. We don't take opportunity of every chance we have in the presence of God
As mentioned, that it comes to us so easily, we don't realize the significance in it, or maybe we do realize but we don't appreciate it as much as we should. Some people in other countries, have to fight and hide away to worship God. Thus, every minute is greeted with a sense of gratitude and thankfulness. Things that come easily aren't always valued, cause we assume that it will always be there. We don't realize its importance to us till we lose it.

2. We still cannot comprehend the face of worshipping someone not visible
God is omnipresent. He is everywhere. That's why He's not seen. God did come to this world in the form of a man, 2000+ years ago, but then when He departed He left behind the Holy Spirit. For in Hebrews 11:6 - But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Faith is believing without seeing, and unfortunately many of us fail to see beyond the need for a physical being in our midst. We don't need the physical that's why we don't believe it. Well, we wait at the bus-stop without seeing the bus, but we know the bus will come. Isn't it the same thing?

3. We put our expectations on God.
God still heals and perform miracles today. Whether we believe it or not. It still does happen. For God to move, we need people to set the "right" platform for God to work. Someone once told me, that in the scenario of praise and worship, God is the spectator and we are His performers rather than the other way around. I mentioned before that God's timing is always perfect. If He shows up earlier than we thought, we are not ready. If He shows up later than us, we were just simply early. We don't see it, we always miss it. Maybe we're just not ready for it. Sadly, but yeah.

We don't appreciate the things we have, until we lose them only we realize how much it meant to us.

Paying it forward and more...

It’s been a hectic few months. There are so many corners to turn, so many things to handle. But exams are over and somehow it does not feel as liberating as I thought it would be. It’s not a depressing thought, but it just made me realize that exams or even studies as a matter is just a small part of life, a small part but nevertheless a part. Life means has a lot more to offer than just exams and study stress, so therefore I choose to look at those things. Things that have gone, past and already happened. Let it be for there are greater things to look forward to.

I watched this show Pay it Forward yesterday. It’s a really old show but a really good show. I’m not about to write a movie review about it but it had something very valuable. Whether does pay it forward is a concept that is practiced by people in reality, is a totally subjective matter as it would create an idealistic world, something many crave, hope and pray for. What “Pay it forward” basically means you perform three acts of helpfulness where one is incapable of helping oneself; to three different people. First and foremost, I’m just speaking on a very human basis level, no religion ties involve. If really everyone did do so, I believe that it can make a change in this world. Even if it was done out of obligation and not out of pure willingness. I mean lets place all our human disagreements and preferences aside for once, and just for once help another human for that person is another human being.

Yes, I do have that nagging thought that there are people who are out there just to take advantage of another person’s good deed. Would taking the person’s help at face value, would be foolish? Or maybe naïve? Besides that, who are you (who am I) to say that another person’s cry out for help is not genuine? What if you were in that person’s scenario? How would you feel if others were to treat you likewise…I know I’m guilty of this pre-conception and judging people before having even hearing them out. This world has gone from simplicity to complexity, the fact is things can’t be turned back to the way it once was. It won’t and it never will. So since people aren’t going to help people, let me place an extra filter on-top of this.

Christians. We are supposed to be the salt and light of the world. Yet, sometimes we don’t do the simplest of things for others because it is of inconvenience to us, and we then wonder why when we try to reach out to them, they reject the gospel. I’m speaking from experience; I know I have failed in that aspect one way or the other so I’m not pointing fingers at everyone apart from myself. We are sometimes so blinded by our own pride and righteousness and when the answer to our common query lies right in front of us, we fail ever so to see it. Utterly disappointing, we tend to forget that we once were no different from the people who are lost.

Take the parable of the Good Samaritan for example: Luke 10:30-37
30 Then Jesus answered and said: “A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

31 Now by chance a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

32 Likewise a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side.

33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion.

34 So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

35 On the next day, when he departed,[j] he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.’

36 So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?”

37 And he said, “He who showed mercy on him.”
Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”

We are sometimes like the Priest and the Levite. And someone else who doesn’t share the same faith show more compassion and soul than us who are supposedly the ones who have it. Don’t you think so? Sometimes we make the devil’s job so easy, that it doesn’t have to do anything…which leaves me sick in the gut that we’re giving it such a big foot hole all the time. Don’t blame that buggar for everything; you’re giving it to much credit.

In closing, I pray that God will give those of us who have struggled in this area compassion to want to be the outstretch arm for people and discernment to tell apart from those who mean us harm or genuinely seek help.

Matthew 5:44 - 44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you

Luke 6:28 - 28 bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you.

The Missing Puzzle..

About a week back, I was asked to share my personal testimony during Campus Action Ministry. At first it did not seem like any trouble, after all I have been a faithful Christian; this should come naturally. I was wrong. Here a few things I realized:

1. I had to really think hard into the history of my life to reconcile recall this moment

2. I have never really actually shared this testimony before

3. It is a great way 2nd Generation Christians to re-connect with their own Salvation encounter

4. Fellow peers will be able to relate more to your sharing compared to someone else of another age

This is how the testimony turned out:

The meaning of my name means God’s grace upon my life. Long before I accepted Christ, I was already a church goer, a regular one in fact. At that age, I never knew that salvation was personal and not by association. I don’t remember every single detail but I remember going to the altar before at least once for a salvation call, but without knowing what I was doing. What I meant about my name was that ever since young, God had already watched over me closely, despite me never acknowledging Him yet.

With Mom being a faithful church goer and also serving, I always assumed that salvation was a “package”. I think it was not till my first ISCA camp when this time, I consciously accepted the Lord as my personal savior. Of course I was not certain of every detail but certain enough to know that this was what I wanted, and I’ve yet to look back ever since.

Before each of us was born, God had already seen the start and end of our life. He knows you and me better than we’ll ever know ourselves.

The bible in Jeremiah says: “ Before we were formed in our mother’s womb, God already knew who we are” (Incomplete verse)

God because He loved ALL, He has destined for us a bright and wonderful future.

Whilst it is said that God has destined us for great things, when things do not turn out right, it is largely our own choices, and God does not force us to follow His way and will not.

I remember during that camp, the same day I had that encounter, what I had was a “burning bush” episode, my phone working perfectly fine, rang during the altar call but there was no sound, and it was not on silent mode. Shell shocked, I responded to that call to reconfirm my Salvation.

In Romans 10:10 it says “that when one in his/her heart believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth of confession comes Salvation”. Amen!

Of course, I did not pick up the phone and heard God speak through the phone. But what I’m trying to say is that when God wants your attention, He will alert you in the most bizarre possible way. It’s nice to know that someone so great will care to give attention to anyone and everyone.

And I leave you with this thought from 2 Corinthians 6:2, for He says:” In an opportune time I have heard you. And in the day of Salvation I have helped you. Behold now is the right time, behold now is the day of Salvation.”

Similarly, you can experience God’s undivided attention and love. All you have to do is say YES. You are no more than a step away, decision, and a choice away. God is a gentleman, He does not force and will not force.

----------------------------------------End of Testimony-------------------------------------

I know some of you will be thinking, let me get this area of my life right, and then I will come to God. I’m waiting for (a loved one’s name) to get saved then I’ll get to know the Lord.

Remember, Salvation is personal not by association. It is your personal conviction and not someone else’s. Jesus died on the cross for ALL, not for some.

Salvation call is like a bus, and you’re at the bus stop. If you don’t board the bus now, how long are you going to wait till the next bus comes? What if something happens to you and you miss it again? Think about it.

You Hold Me Now....

VERSE 1:
On that day when I see
All that You have for me
When I see You face to face
There surrounded by Your grace
All my fears swept away
In the light of Your embrace
Where Your love is all I need
And forever I am free

PRE CHORUS 1:
Where the streets are made of gold
In Your presence healed and whole
Let the songs of heaven
Rise to You alone

CHORUS:
No weeping no hurt or pain
No suffering You hold me now
You hold me now
No darkness no sick or lame
No hiding You hold me now
You hold me now

VERSE 2:
In this life I will stand
Through my joy and my pain
Knowing there's a greater day
There's a hope that never fails
Where Your Name is lifted high
And forever praises rise
For the glory of Your Name
I'm believing for the day

PRE CHORUS 2:
Where the wars and violence cease
All creation lives in peace
Let the songs of heaven
Rise to You alone

BRIDGE:
For eternity
All my heart will give
All the glory to Your Name

Unexpected things happens...

"What do you tell a family that is in grief at the lost of a love one?"

"Don't tell someone you know how they feel unless you have actually gone through similar situation yourself"

"Show Empathy not Sympathy"

"Why do all the good people leave young, and bad ones stay on like forever" - next quote-

"What God gives, only God can take away, He has His reasons, don't question"

Mmm.....

My heart cringes every time I know I can do something about it, but fail to do so because of my initial judgement towards the seeker.

Heartbreak...absolutely heartbreak...

It's 4:54am, but until i get this post out. I just watched the 2nd leg of the UEFA Champions League between Chelsea and Barcelona. Final Result? Barcelona through on the away goal. What's the away goal you ask?

Away Goal - Scoring away from your home ground.

Chelsea drew a shut-out 0-0 at the Nou Camp. No Away Goals scored. Bringing the tie back home, Stamford Bridge. All that was needed was a 1-0 win and that was it, we would be home and dry.

It started off well, Essien gave Chelsea a very well deserved lead with a stunner in the 9th minute. Judging from how decisions were going, i had a bad bad feeling something would go horribly wrong, it felt like i was proven wrong. Here are the match changing incidents.

Incident 1 : Malouda tussles with Alves, dragged down in the penalty box. Outcome: Not Given

Incident 2: Drogba charges in the box, Abidal pulls his shirt, drags him to the ground. Outcome: Not Given (again)

Incident 3: Drogba fends off Yaya Toure, tight tussle Drogba gets tackle Yaya Toure. Outcome: Not Given

Incident 4: Abidal clips Anelka through on goal, goal opportunity denied. Outcome: Abidal sent off.

Incident 5: Lampard shot, hand ball by Pique. Outcome: Not Given

Incident 6: Lampard slips Anelka through, shot on target hits Eto'o on the arm. Outcome : Not Given

As the match progressed, even when Barca were reduced to 10 men. Chelsea's only fault was not to finish them off, finishing was abit weak and that was all that kept us from the final. Maybe we don't deserve it? Well, Barca did not deserve it either...They only had ONE..1...shot on goal from 14 shots, that was in the 92 minute from Iniesta, probably their best player pops up and sticks a knife in the hearts of Chelsea fans all over the world.

The dream of an avenged final defeat to Man United, DEAD. Well, Barca you maybe in the final..but if you play like that in the finals, Ronaldo and co will definitely see you off.

An absolute heart-break for Chelsea. I feel for my team. It's sad. I think i played my part too, I prevented toilet visit during the game and starved off my cravings for orange juice in order not to tip the scale the other way...maybe i should have done otherwise. =(

What seemed so right, was not meant to be.

Whatever that could have gone wrong, did. PERIOD.

Nine Words Women Use..

This is my 99th post, and this post has something to do with the number 9 as well..:) Enjoy..

Nine words women use...

1.)
Fine : This is the word women use to end an argument when they are
right and you need to shut up.

2.)
Five Minutes : If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour.
Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more
minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.

3.)
Nothing : This is the calm before the storm. This means something,
and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing
usually end in fine.

4.)
Go Ahead : This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It!

5.)
Loud Sigh : This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement
often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an
idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing
with you about nothing. (Refer back to #3 for the meaning of nothing.)

6.)
That's Okay : This is one of the most dangerous statements a woma
can make to a man. That's okay means she wants to think long and hard
before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.

7.)
Thanks : A woman is thanking you, do not question, or Faint. Just say
you're welcome.

8.)
Whatever : Is a women's way of saying F@!K YOU!

9.)
Don't worry about it, I'll do it Another dangerous statement, meaning
this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but
is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking 'What's
wrong?' For the woman's response refer to #3.Then you RUN!

Re:Iron Faith..

Had this in a couple of months back gonna dish it out now...

Faith simply means believing without seeing. It is something not really that difficult to do, but it involves more than just a lot of thinking and multiple thoughts and opinions. Faith as it is, pure. It is something closely related with something very emotionally fragile called trust. Trust is like a glass ball, once dropped and broken. It is close to impossible to piece it back together, even if done so it will not be the same.

In addition to that, trust is more on the line of believing after seeing. Which makes faith all the more superior. Just like how trust can be broken and never recovered, faith is also similar in some sense. Therefore, it is very crucial to place your faith and trust in the right hands. I urge you to place your faith in God. Why? Because placing your faith in the wrong hands, and you risk yourself being disappointed.

God never fails us. He is one who keeps His promises and carries it out. Man will fail us, regardless who he/she maybe. Despite the best efforts of man, it is our nature that we will fall short in one way or another, depending on the severity of things. So let not your faith be shaken by one's downfall.

Life is life because there are hurts and disappointments that are needed to be contented and dealt with. Without these things, life is not what it is anymore. However, that does not mean that we stop living. We need to learn and move beyond the hurts and disappointments we endure. It is through these negative events that we draw out the positive effects.

Every story has a start and an ending. It is one ending and it conveys only one meaning. But when one read it, one perceives it to how he/she wants to look at it. It's how you choose to look at the situation that matters and how the situation affects you.

Be Proud Of Yourself...

It has recently (few weeks back) come to my attention that many people have suffered from lack of self-esteem. In conjunction to the release of SPM results, many students who i deem as bright in their own right, despite doing fairly well still were by and large unhappy with their achievements.

1 main reason that i discovered is that many of them tend to compare with their peers. Now, i'm not saying that it's wrong to compare, but if it's for the better by all means go ahead. However, the aftermath of comparing with their peers, is usually sulky and even depressing to an extent, which is bad..

It also speaks to me that more than these SPM students, there are many people out there who suffer from low self-esteem and are not contented with themselves. Serious cases of low self-esteem leads up to problems like depression and in worst case scenarios are committing suicide. Don't be surprised, that some of the people who take their own life are actually those who others regard are at the pinnacle of the life. It is really saddening to see people who have so much going for them yet have so little in them. If they were a little more positive, they could have done greatER exploits.

How to get over this problem? People should find their self-worth not in other people but in God. This is for Christians at least. Men despite their best intentions are at best reduced to mistakes occasionally. It's something that we all gotta accept. In God, it's a different story. He always will lift you up when you're down and He is ever reliable.

Another way to overcome this problem would to be always positive. Negativism does not reap any benefit, so therefore just toss it out of the window. Look on the bright side of things, choose to be hopeful in the midst of adversity, faith brings up the hope in us.

Lastly, similarly to those SPM students. DO NOT compare yourself to somebody else. Everyone is made unique and with a special purpose in life. Make the best out of what you have, if 2A's is your best...then praise God for the 2A's.

"Failure is giving up and refusing to pick yourself up again"

I'll leave you with some things to ponder about

1 Timothy 6:6-10

6But godliness with contentment is great gain.

7For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.

8And having food and raiment, let us be therewith content.

9But those who would be rich fall into temptation and a snare and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.

10For the love of money is the root of all evil; and while some have coveted after it, they have erred from the faith and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

A story...

This is a story about a little girl in school. As the last day of the academic term finally came, the school held a party where everyone has to bring something to share with their classmates. Well, this little girl was very poor but she came with a basket. However it was not filled up. As the teacher requested the class to bring their baskets to the front, obeying instructions, she brought her empty basket to the front as well. The teacher asked the little girl :"little girl, your basket is empty." Looking back at the teacher, she responded by sitting inside the basket.

There was a sudden break of silence. The message was "I have nothing to offer, but i offer myself".

You?ll come to us
As certain as the dawn appears

Chorus
You'll come let your glory fall
As you respond to us
Spirit reign flood our hearts
With holy fire again

Verse 2
We are not shaken we are not moved
We wait upon you Lord
Our Mighty deliverer my triumph and truth

Two decades.....

Today, I have officially lived as long as two decades. Two decades sounds longer than 20 years actually. Well, that's besides the point.

It's been 20 years, and I wanna thank God for everything that I've been through. The good , the bad and the ugly. Though some may be undesired, but I learn through the experiencing it.

Another note, thanks for the wishes =) I'm glad. God bless all of you.

How can I keep from Singing - Chris Tomlin

"How Can I Keep From Singing"

There is an endless song
Echoes in my soul
I hear the music ring

And though the storms may come
I am holding on
To the rock I cling

How can I keep from singing Your praise
How can I ever say enough
How amazing is Your love
How can I keep from shouting Your name
I know I am loved by the King
And it makes my heart want to sing

I will lift my eyes
In the darkest night
For I know my Savior lives

And I will walk with You
Knowing You'll see me through
And sing the songs You give

I can sing in the troubled times
Sing when I win
I can sing when I lose my step
And fall down again
I can sing 'cause You pick me up
Sing 'cause You're there
I can sing 'cause You hear me, Lord
When I call to You in prayer
I can sing with my last breath
Sing for I know
That I'll sing with the angels
And the saints around the throne

A S M I L E =)

I saw this when i was in the teacher's lounge. Saw it posted on the bulletin board.

A SMILE costs nothing, but gives much. It enriches those who receive, without making poorer those who give. It takes but a moment, but the memory of it sometimes last forever. None is so rich or mighty that he can get along without it, and none is so poor but that he can be made rich by it. A SMILE creates happiness in the home, fosters good will in business, and is the countersign of friendship. It brings rest to the weary, cheer to the discouraged, sunshine to the sad, and it is nature's best antidote for trouble. Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed, or stolen, for it is something that is of no value to anyone until it is given away. Some people are too tired to give you A SMILE. Give them one of yours, as none needs A SMILE so much as he who has no more to give.

2009, come in..

I've already stated some of the feelings I had for 2008. So no more explaining on 2008, cause 2009 is here.

Pastor said that 2009 will be the start of new beginnings. I couldn't agree more that it will be, many many things that happened in 2008, I would like to have a fresh start, somehow starting from scratch makes things a little easier some ways.

Many things will have to change this year. Change is always hard at first, but if practiced long enough, it will becoming a habit and it will be natural in time.

I expect many great things to come, it will be new beginnings for alot of unexpected things.

Expect the unexpected, I guess?
