Match Report Arsenal 2:1 Manchester United. Gunners do a double over Devils

Just as i was still looking back at how miserable my saturday was due to Chelsea's defeat in the hands of Liverpool. Sunday clearly gave me something to shout about! alittle about my day before i start on the titanic clash. Yeah we played football instead of futsal for a 2nd week running...and it was great fun...played in the rain. Yea, i admit it's kinda dangerous and you can get sick by doing that...but thankfully i'm still okay now....It was really a rare sight for alot of us. Though we aren't exactly professionals but i wouldn't consider ourselves as noobs either. We can play decent football...but the rain certainly was a mirror to us. We were playing like "kampung boys" that's was caused by the mud puddle in the field...5-6 ppl surrounding and just kicking water instead of the ball...Sirn Loong and myself played in a 3 man defence with Samuel in the middle...and both of us were "privilleged" enough to drank abit of nature's liquid....MUD WATER...but what to expect when u're playin in a water-logged pitch. Victor last week's surprise hero played on the opposite side...and provided some untimely entertainment....hehehe :-) nice one Vic.

Now to the serious stuff. Defeat to Chelsea at Anfield meant that current league leaders Manchester United could go 9 pts clear at the top of the table with a win over Arsenal at the Emirates stadium. It's always a big event when these 2 meet....usually a few punches will go flying about or in recent times pizzas as well. The last time these 2 giants locked horns at Old Trafford saw Arsenal sneak away with a well earned 0-1 away win and that was when the Gunners were in all sorts of trouble. This time around the tables have turned around for them. Manchester United have been consistent in their league form....meanwhile Arsenal have been on red-hot form since the Return of Theirry Henry...they lynchpin striker. If there were to be a moment of magic it would have to be from him...and as usual he never disappoints..

Such a big game attracts tonnes of viewers, and at Victor's house...there was Victor , Jireh , Suresh in the Manchester United corner....against Wee Liam a.k.a eh! why no fight wan! , Sirn Loong and myself...FYI, Wee Liam isn't really a football fan ...he just doesn't like Manchester United....Sirn Loong is a die-heart Real Madrid fan..an admirer of Iker Casillas and Myself a Chelsea fan...So there was tension as usual....and it was so bad you could cut it with a knife....(no lar, i'm just kidding..it's not that bad)....Sirn Loong and Suresh decided to sleep through the game hoping for someone to score ..while Wee Liam persistent to watch on for a fight...Jireh and Victor just hope MU would nick it...and i just hope Henry produced a moment of magic.

The game kicked off , at high tempo...with tackles and elbows flying around abit here and there. I think the biggest victim through out the whole game would be Fabregas , the little genius from Spain certainly was being kicked around the field by Man Utd boys everytime he touched the ball. I'm no fan of Cristiano Ronaldo and i think he was correctly booked for diving...or was it time wasting and stated in the match report i really do not know. Both side had their fair amount of chances. MU came closer to scoring on more occasions if it wasn't for Germany #1 Jens Lehmann being outstanding between the post of the Gunners...Saving several goal-bound attempts from Henrik Larsson and Wayne Rooney. At the other hand, United's goalie Van Der Sar was just as fantastic ....keeping hold of everything thrown at him from the Arsenal attack..

The game finally came to life...when United took the lead through Wayne Rooney. Sir Alex Ferguson said that Wayne Rooney is a man of the big stage and he backed his manager words with a very well taken diving header. Cristiano Ronaldo opened the left flank and sliding a forward pass to Patrice Evra who overlapped and beat Fabregas by producing a pin-point cross which took a little hit from Kolo Toure and Wayne Rooney pouncing on Gael Clichy's unawareness..to put the visitors 0-1 up. Arsenal in typical fashion..fought back..and it started when they brought on Dutch striker Robin Van Persie (a brillant player in my opinion) , a cross from Flamini i think...wonderfully faked by Henry...and Van Persie came charging from the back to blast the ball from near range leaving fellow Dutchman Van Der Sar with absolutely no chance of saving it. The game seemed as though it was heading to a stalemate, MU were certainly ready to play for a draw..by bringing of Ronaldo and on with Henize a defensive move obviously on otherhand Arsenal continued to push forward and got their reward when Eboue beat Evra late in injury time and the right back produced a perfect cross for an unmarked Henry to head in...for a dramatic winner! And that's how the game ended.

For us back in Malaysia, it was very much joy to those non-Manchester United supporters...to those Manchester United supporters....sorry about the defeat but look on the positives you still have a 6 point lead at the top of the table...So be contented! You're not having any defensive problems!...So it leaves the league back wide open...and there is still hope. It was back to work today..and tomorrow and the day after tomorrow....So for now..it's Ciao mate...

Signing off,

Kevin
